THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NEEDS AND WANTS
What you want isn't always what you need. The difference between wants and needs is important for us to recognize it so that we don't fall into consumptive life and like to buy something without a plan.
Needs are the basic functions of something essentially necessary such as, eating to gain nutrition, shelter for rest, transport for work, education for the future of children and others. While desires is all the extra functionality that if nothing is actually not interrupting your life, but you hope to get that extra functionality. Like, expensive food, big house and luxury, new cars, and so on. Desire is often a manifestation to affirm one's social status and prove to others that he or she is capable of possesing it.
SHOULD WANTS HAVE TO BE FULFILLED?
In my opinion, its okay as long as all the important needs have been noticed. Dont let a trivial desire shift the more important and essential needs.
TIPS TO MANAGE YOUR WANTS AND NEEDS
1. Arrange all your needs
2. Prioritize those needs and make sure they are the first one
3. Determine what you want
4. Ask yourself how much that you need and expect that wants and make scale priorities
5. If you have excess funds, you have to make a wish list that may be fulfilled after ensuring your essential needs are done.
6. If you dont have excess funds, please avoid seeing objects that can create the emergence of desire because it will become a obsession.
7. If you are already interested and have a desire to buy something, avoid to buy directly at the time. Neutralize your emotions and feelings and let your rational aspects balance. Later, after your consideration has been more fair, you can decide whether you want it or its just your obsession.
